motivation

What motivates you to work with your hands and create things?

I'm always really proud when I finish knitting an item and feeling the fabric I've just made. This fabric made from a single strand that's been woven into itself to make something like a hat or a scarf or some mittens.

But that isn't my motivation.

I'm always trying to learn some kind of craft that I can sell for money. Because I am an artist and the work of artists deserves pay.

But that isn't my motivation.

I fill my life with projects because the alternative is to sit down and waste my time playing Angry Birds or watching daytime tv.

But that isn't my motivation.

I create because that is what I was created to do.

Honestly

I'm really only actually writing this because I am on my computer right now. Otherwise I would probably be knitting. I'm only on my computer still because it is keeping me kind of warm. It's really cold right now and my cardigan is doing nothing to remedy it.

Anyway, I'll probably write about knitting projects that I'm working on and maybe even try teaching you how to knit. Like a man.

This isn't going to be about rehashing all of the usual crap about fishing nets and the history of knitting. It's about knitting now. And it's manly because we invented it.

Anyway, my hands are cold so typing is kind of difficult. I would wear some fingerless mitts right now if I could find a pattern for them that actually fit me. I'm still stuck on that whole ordeal. I'll probably have to make the pattern myself. When I do, I'll put it on here.

In the mean time, I should get back to knitting Christmas presents.
